Pre-Nursing
Nursing is one of the most rewarding, and challenging, health professions you can
choose. Beyond the personal satisfaction of treating patients with care and compassion,
the nursing profession often provides many choices of where and when to work, areas
of specialization, and opportunities for advancement. Our program provides individual
advising to help students plan and apply for nursing school after completing a liberal
arts education. Students interested in nursing careers should consult the program
coordinator early in their time at Washington. Those who have noted their interest
in considering a career in nursing will become aware of expectations, requirements,
procedures, and deadlines associated with the program.
Upon graduation, students who completed the pre-nursing program can earn a bachelor
of science in nursing degree (BSN) from an accelerated program elsewhere, or choose
to attend a direct entry master of science in nursing degree (MSN) program.
External Partnerships
Washington College has a 3:2 dual-degree program with the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Students earn their bachelor's degree from Washington, then earn a bachelor of science
in nursing degree (BSN) from University of Maryland School of Nursing.
Washington has a partnership with the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing (JHUSON) for a Master of Science in Nursing
(MSN), allowing our students to apply for the program with assistance of a JHUSON liaison.
