Dr. A.J. Delario Magic Collection

Dr. A.J. Delario Magic Collection

Washington College is fortunate to have the rare book collection of Dr. A.J. Delario.

Beginning in 1976, Delario gave several volumes per year from his personal collection, which was considered “one of the better collections of magic books in the country.” The collection includes over 400 volumes of magic books, many of them unique and rare. Delario was a radiologist, and had been an amateur magician since the 1930s. This collection is currently uncatalogued, so please contact the archivist for access.

One of our recent graduates, Ian Flinn,’16, worked with our magic collection for the Friends of the Miller Library Fellowship grant. His historical research with our collection and other historic magic collections resulted in a publication entitled Conjuring Curiosity.
