Music Production Minor
The Minor in Music Production allows students to integrate artistic creativity, technical expertise, and critical inquiry, preparing them for diverse careers in the music industry and beyond.
Over the past 15 years, the Music Department has observed a growing interest in guitar, electric bass, synthesizers, drum set, and contemporary vocal styles. Increasingly, students arrive on campus with prior experience creating electronic music using software such as GarageBand, FL Studio, Ableton Live, and Logic. Many express a strong interest in music production, live sound, and performing commercial genres including hip-hop, rock, pop, EDM, country, and folk. Establishing a Minor in Production enables the department to respond to these shifts in student interest, the evolving music industry, and a rapidly changing job market, while continuing to uphold and transmit core traditional music skills and knowledge.
