Education Field Experiences

The Department of Education provides field experiences around Kent and Queen Anne’s counties, giving our students access to organizations and programs to expand their knowledge base by putting them side by side with working professionals.

Our field experiences are for credit and help you gain additional, hands-on experience outside their courses. Work in formal or informal learning environments, in an area rich with education, environment, history, and arts organizations and see how small organizations undertake the work of educating the public.

Field placement options may vary depending on your areas of interest, but our department has partnerships with the following organizations:

  • teachers and Washington students in Kent County public school spirit wear

Kent County Public Schools, including H.H. Garnet Elementary School and Kent County Middle School, both located in Chestertown, and Kent County High School in Worton.
  • Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, including Church Hill Elementary School.
  • Adkins Arboretum
  • The Betterton Heritage Museum
  • Echo Hill Outdoor School
  • Pickering Creek Audubon Center
  • Rose Hill Manor Parks and Museums
  • a Washington student showing a younger student what they caught in a dip net in a stream

    The Sassafras Environmental Education Center
  • ShoreRivers
  • Tuckahoe State Park

The department has additional connections located in Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and other regional cities.
