Community Service Organizations

The Office of Student Engagement is committed to uniting campus and community in meaningful service.

Whether your passion is helping animals (Animal Impact), saving the environment (Student Environmental Alliance), promoting equality and LGBT rights (EROS), working with children (Caring for Kids), building houses for those in need (Habitat for Humanity), or community service in general (Service Council), Washington College has a club for you!

Beyond the clubs themselves, OSE offers a wide range of club and community partnerships to provide students with the opportunity to participate in service work they’re passionate about.

Our core community partners include:

Kent Food Pantry

Kent County Schools

Habitat for Humanity

Planning an Event? Follow These Steps:

Find the link to Campus Groups here!

Your event must be added to CampusGroups 2 weeks before your event. If you plan to serve alcohol at your event, please email the Office of Student Engagement 3 weeks before your event.  If you need help please contact the Office of Student Engagement.

All vendors/performers need to be under contract through the Office of Student Engagement. Under no circumstances should a student enter a verbal or written agreement with an outside contractor. Reach out to the Office of Student Engagement or Antoine Jordan to secure an outside vendor.

To rent tables for your events please complete the Table Rental Form. This form includes tables for Hodson Lobby.

OSE owns lighting and a sound system that can be requested for events sponsored by Washington College clubs and organizations. You must email the Office of Student Engagement and/or Antoine Jordan at least 2 weeks before to your scheduled event.

If you plan to have any food at your event beyond basic snacks, you must have approval from the Director of Student Engagement Antoine Jordan , who can help place your catering order with AVI. If you would like to have catering that is not AVI, you must submit a request to Student Engagement, who will coordinate your order with AVI.

Due to their contract with the College, AVI has the first right to refuse any catering orders that are with vendors outside of the College, so keep in mind that your request for outside catering may be denied. Catering orders must be placed no less than 2 weeks in advance. If you order is not placed within this timeframe, your request may be denied and your event will not have food. If you have any questions about menu options or your catering order, please reach out to the Office of Student Engagement Antoine Jordan (Ajordan2@washcoll.edu)  or the Director of Catering, John Weczynski (jwerczynski2@washcoll.edu).

Clubs and Organizations may use the Resource Room in OSE to create signs, posters, banners, etc. to advertise for their events. The Resource Room is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Director of Student Engagement Antoine Jordan provides the final approval for all student events. Requests for events must be submitted via CampusGroups. Your event request is not final until it has gone through the two-phase approval process. Questions regarding the status or your request, or if you need to make changes, can be submitted by emailing student_engagement@washcoll.edu or by using the chat feature in Campus Groups.

Event requests should be submitted no less than two weeks before your event, and you may not advertise for your event until it is fully approved. Keep in mind that event requests submitted with less than two weeks before your event date may not be approved or may not be scheduled for the space and time you've requested. Event dates, times, and locations are also subject to change depending upon the needs of the College even after your event has been approved.

Any events where an outside vendor (ex. catering, performer, third party vendor) provides a contract cannot be signed by a student or their advisor. All contracts for events must be sent to the Office of Student Engagement for processing.
