At Washington college, we are committed to giving every student opportunities for
intellectual growth and widened career prospects. But how can we be sure that we deliver
on this commitment? Because we engage in ongoing and rigorous assessemnt. Assessment
is the process of collecting, analyzing, and using information to increase student
learning. We assess our programs to be sure that we have clearly defined goals and
that students are achieving those goals. Ongoing assessment ensures that a Washington
College education is of the highest quality.
Assessment is also required for accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Middles States has seven standards for accreditation, and each standard has an assessment
criterion. A Self-Study was last completed in 2014 to maintain Middle State accreditation.
