Available by appointment

Born and raised in Kent County, Laura Chamberlin is excited to be working for the place she calls home, the place where her environmental ethics began. Laura has nearly 20 years of experience working throughout the United States, the Americas, and beyond to understand human dimension challenges and work with communities to develop conservation solutions. Her experience spans a variety of conservation issues, but center to all is collaboration between diverse partners, social science, and strategic communication. Past projects have included on-the-ground stewardship activities, volunteer coordination, regional advocacy actions, partnership networks, and capacity-building workshops.

As the Associate Director for Civic Engagement, Laura will be working with CES staff and across Washington College to build partnerships in the community that are mutually beneficial — supporting community organizations to address current environmental challenges and providing experiential learning opportunities for Washington College students. These learning opportunities may be professional development for some students, but ultimately support all students in becoming environmentally responsible and civically minded members of their present and future communities. Laura will also work with students, faculty, and staff to bring environmental action with the community into the classroom, dining hall, green spaces, or anywhere where civic engagement is needed.
