How does simply housing STEM students together help? Environment matters, visibility matters.
- Studying together
- Seeing others daily persisting in classes
- Supporting each other now and as they progress in their studies and fields
- Making friendships that will forge professional connections in the future
What kind of classes are we talking about?
Bio 112 and Chem 112 are perfect examples of classes where first year students greatly benefit from living in the same hall.
How do I request to live there? On your Housing Preference Form, it is question # 19. As staff assign students, those who request will be placed there. If spaces are still available, staff will assignpeople who have expressed interest in a STEM major.
Summer 2020 update: Due to COVID19, there will be no summer housing available for workers, internships, etc. Only the students currently on campus due to the COVID19 situation are allowed to remain this summer.
Summer housing application:
The summer housing application is available via the housing link on web advisor. Under the applications tab, you will see one for Summer Housing 2020.
Note: There is a $100 refundable housing deposit for all students living on campus over the summer. It is payable by check at the Business Office. You may not move into your summer housing until this deposit is paid.
Payment may also be made online here. Since there is no specified “Summer housing deposit” field, you can pay by entering “100” into the “Student Account” field and completing the payment provided you also email Jennifer Hutton (firstname.lastname@example.org) to specify that the payment is intended for the summer housing deposit.
