Holly  Ruvo

Class of 2022 • South Orange, New Jersey
Holly Ruvo '22 took the skills she learned from her Communication & Media Studies major and senior capstone experience creating a documentary and turned them into a career. She now works in alumni communications at Seton Hall University, where she is also working on her master's degree in communications part-time.

“I have a deep-rooted love for digital storytelling, film, and emerging media. My favorite part of my major was analyzing films. I’ve never watched a film the same way since. Dr. Grosse mentored me in directions she knew tailored best to my skills and focused on me in a well-rounded respect. She made me confident not only in my skills but in the knowledge I’d obtained and still carry with me.

“I worked as the Digital Media Coordinator for the Washington College baseball team under Corey Beddick. He gave me a chance to take control of a sports social media platform and helped me produce a full-length documentary on his team called Comeback that followed the baseball team’s ups and downs post covid. It is my most prized piece of work and has pushed me beyond belief as well as prepared me for video projects I work on now. I was able to put the theories and practices from the classroom into action and would likely not be in the role I am today had I not been gifted that experience.

“I work at Seton Hall University in their Alumni Communications department, running all social media pages and producing short- and long-form video work for events, campaigns, and everything in between. I run all digital marketing endeavors and even dabble with graphic design. Once I finish my M.A., my dream is to pursue sports media production."
