Professional Work

Kathy Thornton '13 graduated from Washington College with a double major in Environmental Studies and History. She has worked for environmental non-profits for the past ten years focusing on native plants, forest and meadow ecology, environmental education and outreach, and sustainable agriculture. She is excited to work with the Natural Lands Project and River and Field Campus to teach students and community members about ecology, biodiversity, and habitat restoration.

Personal Interests

She moved to Chestertown after graduating and loves spending time on the water as much as she can! As a student, Kathy traveled Peru through the Chesapeake Semester and Easter Island thanks to the Cater Society of Junior Fellows. Most recently, she went to Alaska and hopes to continue exploring new places. She enjoys reading, photography, gardening, and strives to learn something new everyday!
