And now, as the U.S. Ambassador to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) inter-governmental forum, he is a regular participant in high-level meetings between world leaders.

Throughout her career and the evolution of her legacy premedical program, Verville has always used students’ needs as her guiding star, creating courses and labs in the fields of microbiology and immunology and undertaking small research projects with undergraduates. The 1996 Washington College Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award recognized her dedication and skill.

Washington College received the largest donation from an individual in the College’s 242-year history: a $15 million gift from Elizabeth “Beth” Warehime ’13, which will underwrite the launch of The Warehime School of Global Business, Economics, and Social Impact.
