Join Trish McGee to learn how she carries on the family tradition of reporting the news in Kent County, MD. Trish’s great-grandfather, L. Bates Russell Sr., launched his newspaper The Enterprise on September 27, 1893. When L. Bates passed away in 1942, on his 76th birthday, The Enterprise, under the editorship of his son Harry S. Russell, continued until 1955 when it was absorbed by the Kent County News.

Trish joined the Kent County News team in December 1985 as a sports writer and officially retired at the end of September 2022 as the Editor. She continued to contribute to The News until August 2023. Trish did not stop reporting the news at that point. On September 27, 2023, she launched her own online newspaper, The Evening Enterprise.

Trish grew up in Chestertown, Maryland. She graduated with honors from Washington College with a degree in history and several years began her work at the Kent County News. Trish proudly represents the fourth generation of her family to write for a newspaper in Chestertown.
