Hannah’s parents instilled in her a value for the simple yet complex miracles of nature. Progging around the woods, admiring fireflies, and listening to spring peepers are among her most cherished memories.

As an Environmental Studies major triple minoring in Sociology, Anthropology, and Chesapeake Regional Studies, Hannah is hoping to continue expanding her horizons through an interdisciplinary lens. When she is not in class, she is likely in a practice room playing drum set, marimba, or vibraphone. 

Since childhood, Hannah has sought to learn more about the interconnectedness of all natural things, including human life. Dissatisfied with language and ideologies that reinforce our perceived separateness both from each other and from nature, and interested in the socioeconomic patterns that uphold these frames of mind, her activities both inside and outside the classroom are inspired by righting these wrongs. She is beyond excited to join the Office of Sustainability as a Permaculture Intern and looks forward to getting hands-on experience exploring how our food and energy systems impact our relationship with the natural world. She is driven by a faith in the human ability to adapt, and seeks to learn as much as possible in order to effectively spread a message of equity, harmony, and sustainability.
