Timeframe: 1-3 Days

Reduce the antinutrients phytic acid and calcium oxalate in almonds through germination.

Sprouting Raw Almonds

Most almonds in stores are irradiated, making them impossible to sprout. Purchase almonds online from producers to ensure they are raw.

Method

  1. Soak the almonds in water overnight.
  2. Strain and discard soaking water. Lay the almonds out to dry completely on a clean towel or mesh baking sheet. Make sure they aren’t touching each other.
  3. Rinse the almonds, and let dry completely again. Rinse and dry once more after this.

Eat fresh sprouted almonds immediately to maximize nutrition! Or for an irresistible flavor, roast the sprouted almonds afterward with some salt and a traditional fat. Cook them at 350°F for 8 minutes, or till you hear them popping!

Almond Butter, Milk, and Flour

Fully dehydrated or roasted almonds can be blended into butters using a food processor. Add water to the processor and strain the solids out to make delicious a nut milk. Dehydrate the remaining almond solids to use as sprouted almond flour.
