The Honorary Producer Program
Do you remember the first time you stepped onto a stage at Washington College? That lightning-white moment as your eyes adjusted and you found your audience, your fellow performers, your mark — all while the world waited breathlessly for you to begin?
Perhaps you preferred to stand in the wings on opening night, watching performers speak words that you wrote, wear costumes that you designed, or carry props that you built?
Or perhaps you were an audience member, eager to see what new spectacle might emerge from the darkness this weekend?
This tradition of students learning by doing — and of developing life skills through artistic collaboration — lives on in the production work of the Department of Theatre & Dance… and you can still be part of it!
Help support our students’ creative, collaborative learning experiences by becoming an honorary producer.
The Honorary Producer Program provides an opportunity for WC alumni and others to make a direct contribution to the work of current Theatre & Dance students by supporting the department’s production activities. The program includes a range of opportunities to sponsor events in both theatre and dance, including:
Senior Capstone Experience production: $350
Departmental workshop: $500
Alumni guest artist: $1,000
Professional guest artist: $2,500
Faculty production: $5,000
Student choreographer: $100
Alumni choreographer: $500
Professional guest choreographer: $1,000
Dancescape concert: $5,000
Thanks and Perks
As an honorary producer, you will become part of the Theatre & Dance family. Honorary producers are encouraged to meet and get to know the students whose work they are supporting, and sometimes to participate in the production process by sitting in on a rehearsal, observing a design meeting, or watching a few hours of tech. Honorary producers also receive the following invitations and acknowledgments:
- Listing on the website and in the program
- Nightly recognition in the curtain speech
- Two reserved VIP seats for the performance of your choice
- A show poster signed by the company

The Honorary Producer Program was founded by recent Washington College First Lady Elisabeth Reiss and former Theatre & Dance Department Chair Michele Volansky. Elisabeth Reiss worked as a professional actor in London prior to joining us at Washington College with her husband, former College President Mitchell Reiss, and Michele Volansky is an alumna and dedicated advocate of student-alumni engagement.
