  • 6:00pm: The US Naval Academy Big Band, Next Wave As part of its 2013-2014 Premier Artists lineup, the Washington College Concert Series presents Next Wave in a FREE Outdoor Concert in Martha Washington Square.

  • 12:00pm: Rogério Souza and Choro Ensemble As part of its FREE 12@Hothkiss Series, the Washington College Department of Music celebrates Brazil Day 2013 with a performance by Brazilian guitarist Rogério Souza Silva showcasing his exciting interpretations of choro and samba.

September 19th, 2013

  • 6:00pm: Stephen Wade As part of its 2013-2014 Premier Artists lineup, the Washington College Concert Series, together with the C.V. Starr Center for the American Experience, present a FREE Book Talk and Performance by author and musician Stephen Wade in Decker Theater.

October 1st, 2013

  • 5:30pm: The Artistry of Afro-Cuban Batá Drumming The Department of Music presents a book talk and performance by Washington College Professor Kenneth Schweitzer. Together with several professional colleagues, Dr. Schweitzer will punctuate a discussion of his book with the dramatic and exciting drumming of Santería. 

October 4th, 2013

  • 12:00pm: Dan Shomper, cello and Grace Eun Hae Kim, piano As part of its FREE 12@Hothkiss Series, the Washington College Department of Music, together with the together with the Washington College Concert Series, presents a performance by Washington College professors Daniel Shomper and Grace Eun Hae Kim featuring works by da Falla, Ginastera, Piazolla, and others.

October 17th, 2013

  • 7:30pm: Ensemble Galilei - First Person: Seeing America As part of its 2013-2014 Premier Artist lineup, The Washington College Concert Series, together with the C.V. Starr Center for the American Experience present First Person: Seeing America featuring Ensemble Galilei, narration by actor Rob Nagle and actress Lily Knight and iconic photographs from The Metropolitan Museum of Art in Decker Theater.

  • 12:00pm: Capital Reeds As part of its FREE 12@Hothkiss Series, the Washington College Department of Music, together with the together with the Washington College Concert Series, presents a performance by woodwind trio Capital Reeds.

November 11th, 2013

  • 7:30pm: Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band As part of its 2013-2014 Premier Artists lineup, the Washington College Concert Series celebrates Veteran’s Day with a free concert in Decker Theater by one of the finest big bands in the world today, the Jazz Ambassadors of Washington, DC.

November 22nd, 2013

  • 12:00pm: Student Chamber Music Concert The Department of Music presents the Student Chamber Music Concert. Admission is FREE and open to the community. Various student chamber groups will be featured including, the Brass Ensemble, Woodwind Ensemble, Saxophone Quartet, String Trio, Chamber Singers, and Jazz Combo.

November 23rd, 2013

  • 7:30pm: Chorus & String Orchestra The Department of Music presents a joint concert of the W.C. Chorus (directed by Doug Byerly) & the W.C. String Orchestra (directed by Kimberly McCollum & guest conducted by J. Ernest Green, Director of the Annapolis Chorale and Chamber Orchestra). Program will include Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. Admission is $10 (adults) and $5 (Seniors/WC faculty & staff/Children over 12). WC students and children under 12 are free.

December 2nd, 2013

  • 7:30pm: Honors Solo and Chamber Student Recital The Department of Music features its most talented musicians in its fall Honors Solo & Chamber Music Recital. After the performance, please join us for coffee and dessert!

December 5th, 2013

  • 7:30pm: Jazz Ensemble & Symphonic Band The Department of Music presents the WC Jazz Ensemble & WC Symphonic Band. This concert is part of the Festival of the Arts, an annual charity event sponsored by the Department of Music, the Department of Drama, and the SGA Club (Music Collegium). The Event is FREE and open to the public. Donations will be accepted in the lobby.
