    Frequently Asked Questions

Flock Together is Washington College’s Summer Advising day on campus. This event will give students and their families information on resources at the college, and how to get immersed in the Washington College community. This event is also when students meet with a summer advisor and select their classes for their first semester at Washington College.

Yes! We understand that traveling at the end of June might not work for your schedule, whether it's because of your high school graduation, work schedules, or other previously scheduled travel. We are happy to help you register for fall classes after the on-campus Flock Together days, but we STRONGLY recommend you attend if possible. There is so much more to learn and experience from attending Flock Together than just registering for your classes.

If you cannot attend the in-person advising dates, there will be make-up dates scheduled for June 27th and 28th and other make-up dates throughout the summer.

Use the link sent by your Admissions Counselor to indicate you will need to schedule a make-up advising session.

We will reach out starting the week of June 17th to schedule these.

No! We take all the available spots in classes and split them up evenly for the 3 days.

We know you might not have control over which date you can join us, so we ensure you have the same opportunities to register as others. We do not save seats for registrations after the 3 Flock Together advising dates.

Your parents or guardian, or whoever is a support person for you. Each student can bring one or two support people.

You can see the full schedule here , but your supporters will attend a welcome session with you as well as hear about the academic expectations. After that they'll hear from folks from Student Affairs (like Residence Life and Student Engagement), and they'll have opportunities in the afternoon to hear about our robust first year Career Development program, meet with Financial Aid and the Business Office, and attend a resource fair where they can talk to just about anyone on campus.

You'll have the same start to the day, you'll get some time with your peers, a chance to attend an FYS class, a session reviewing the checklist of items you need to complete throughout the summer, attend the resource fair, have your advising session, and meet with Business Office and Financial Aid. At the end of the day, we'll all hear a closing address (which received RAVE reviews last year, it's a must see!) and ice cream!

YES! Log in to your student portal and look at the summer to do list. Most importantly, you should have completed your course planning worksheet and placement tests for both language and quantitative skills. This will allow you and your advisor to have the best discussion about what courses to register you for.

Easiest way to complete all of this is through the Canvas page for New Students

In the event you need to switch the date that you signed up for, please contact Assistant Dean of Advising and Advocacy Hilary Bateman via email at hbateman2@washcoll.edu

Well, we are Goose Nation. You may not know, but when a group of geese is on the ground or in the water, they're known as a 'gaggle', when they're in flight they are known as a 'team' or a 'wedge'. But the most generic term for a group of geese is 'flock'.

Also, the staff member who puts together the schedule has a thing for cute/funny names, let's humor her.
