Jan Elvin
Jan worked as a writer and researcher for 18 years at the National Prison Project of the ACLU in Washington, DC. She went on to serve as a court liaison for victims of domestic violence in Montgomery County, MD. The discovery of a WWII diary written by her father led her to write a book, The Box from Braunau, which chronicled his experiences in heavy combat and the liberation of a concentration camp. After moving to Chestertown, Jan became involved with organizations such as the Kent County Food Pantry and Mid-Shore Pro Bono. Jan has served on the WC-ALL Council for five years, two as Chair.
