As the Director of Health Services, Lisa oversees the administration and clinical operations of the Student Health Center. The Health Center’s mission is: “assisting students in maintaining their optimal physical and emotional health needed for academic and personal success”. Health Services also works to promote health and safety, prevent disease and plan for emergencies.
Lisa describes herself as being born into a proud military family of die-hard Eastern Shoremen and is a first generation college student. She took the adventurous path of nontraditional college life to obtain her advanced practice degree. She is sensitive to the needs of and supports our nation’s veterans and nontraditional college students. After her childhood aspirations of becoming a spy or veterinarian were redirected, her love of science, mystery, medicine, and adventure led her to a career in human services. She attended Wor-Wic Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She attended Wilmington College, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then Wilmington University for her Master of Science in Nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 1999. She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is a charter member of the Omicron Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.
Since 1985, Lisa has been working with and leading teams in Emergency Departments, Trauma Centers, cardiology, sleep medicine, and had her fun with flight and cruise ship nursing. Her teaching career includes part time lecturer and clinical educator for nursing and paramedic programs on the Delmarva Peninsula. She volunteered for many years as a firefighter/medic in her communities. Lisa looks forward to her career and the new adventures and mysteries college health provides. Lisa maintains her certifications and credentials in the Emergency Service and maintains active staff affiliation with the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health system to forge a continued partnership and the best healthcare possible for our students.
