Terrence H. Scout P’01

Terry Scout, The Connie and Carl Ferris Associate Professor of Business Management, espouses the famous adage of the late College benefactor Alonzo G. Decker, Jr. H’97, who urged everyone “not to give until it hurts, but to give until it feels good.” Scout has been giving, and feeling good about it, since 1984, when he signed on as the first full-time faculty member of the Department of Business Management.

His support is directed toward students, the same ones who have accompanied him on study abroad experiences to China, India and, most recently, Scandinavia. It’s providing students with new experiences like these that fuels Scout’s giving. That, and the knowledge that “whatever you’re making, someone’s making half your salary, and they’re happy with it.” As far as Dr. Scout is concerned, there’s no reason we all can’t give, in order to leave the world just a little better than we found it.
