After graduating with a major in drama and minor in philosophy, John spent two summers on campus working in the Washington College Dinner Theatre. He also served several months as the college’s coordinator of annual giving.
For a time he was the director of public relations for the Historic Circle Theatre in Annapolis, before moving to DC and working for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Screen Actors Guild. Throughout the ’90s, he worked in various capacities at the National Association of Broadcasters, where he eventually became the director of the NAB Education Foundation.
In 2000, he transitioned to a career in fitness at the Army Navy Country Club, where he is currently an assistant general manager. John is certified by the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and gold-certified advanced health and fitness specialist. He is also a certified massage therapist. In 2006, John received his master’s degree in health promotion management from Marymount University in Arlington, where he also served as an adjunct professor for three years.
In addition to his fitness duties, John produces the club’s annual haunted house. He has also done graduate work in video and film production at American University.
