Back in February of 2003, Washington College’s men’s basketball team defeated Villa Julie (now Stevenson) 101-86. That was the last time they scored more than 100 points—until now.

Last Saturday, the Shoremen downed visiting Muhlenburg in 104-99 in overtime. With 17 seconds left in the second half, WC lead 87-84. But, thanks to a three-pointer from James Albano, Muhlenburg tied things up and sent the game into overtime.

Once there, the Shoremen never trailed. They scored the first six points to take a 93-87 lead, and, despite some rallies by the Mules, maintained their advantage. Sophomore forward Pat Morgan hit a free throw to make it 104-99 with 16 seconds left, and, as Muhlenburg couldn’t score on its last possession, ran out the clock for the win.

Washington College has now won 17 of the 22 all-time meetings with Muhlenberg in Chestertown. And they’re now 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Mules have dropped to 3-1 and 0-1 respectively.
