Senior Recital: Meagan Symes (Voice)



Meagan Symes, mezzo-soprano, is a graduating senior at Washington College, a competitive liberal arts college in Chestertown, Maryland. She will be graduating in May 2014 with a double major in Music, with a focus in voice, and Business Management, with a focus in Accounting and Finance. Meagan studied applied voice with Judith Oberholtzer, Catherine Anderson, and Douglas Brandt Byerly. In 2013, Meagan won  Washington College’s prestigious Clarence Hodson Prize, a prize that is given annually by the fine arts departments at Washington College to one student  whose curiosity and high achievement reflect creativity, initiative, and intellectual curiosity. Meagan’s Senior Capstone project, which is supported by the Clarence Hodson Prize, comprises a written thesis and demo CD, both of which reflect her unique perspectives as an artist, producer, and businesswoman. Meagan hopes to utilize the liberal arts spirit to work in an area that celebrates creativity and rewards intellectual pursuit.
