Karen Jones

Karen started at Washington College in 2016 writing print and digital content for alumni and donors, including web stories, email campaigns, press releases, magazine pieces, brochures and other materials. In her current position as assistant director of Institutional Giving and Stewardship (IGS), she writes assigned grant proposals, oversees grant reporting, manages the department’s grant submission and progress schedule, and publicizes major grant awards.
 
Karen has made a long career of strategic communications, marketing, editorial writing and publishing, and digital content production. She worked as senior writer in the Creative Services division at Marriott International headquarters before launching her own marketing communications business with corporate, nonprofit and educational clients. Karen also worked in communications for Susquehanna University, the Institute for Humane Education, and as an independent contributor with Bucknell University. With articles published in many national print and digital publications, she is also the author of the award-winning book "The Difference a Day Makes: 365 Ways to Change Your World in Just 24 Hours," published by New World Library in 2005.
